Program

Frontier Learning Academy currently serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade

Elementary

Our goal for kindergarten through 5th grade is to create an engaging learning environment built around interactive, play-based experiences. We focus on three core subjects: language arts, math, and science in addition to Bible and one elective. We do not have any required homework but beginning in second grade, we offer extension activities that can be done at home, if desired.

  • Our program teaches handwriting, spelling, grammar and creative writing through literature-rich curriculum, copywork and engaging writing projects. It is intentionally designed to create opportunities for learning and growth for students at all academic levels. Parents are encouraged to work through their own curriculum on non-tutorial days.

  • Our program is designed to build a solid mathematical understanding through games, hands-on activities and interactive lessons. Beginning in second grade, parents have the option to follow along at home using the same curriculum that is taught in the classroom.

  • Our comprehensive program covers both the lecture and lab requirements through interactive discussions and hands-on experiments each week. Beginning in third grade, students have the option of completing extension activities in their science journals for additional study. For most families no additional science instruction is needed.

  • Our Bible curriculum focuses on teaching students about God's story of redemption beginning in Eden through the establishment of the New Testament church. Stories are taught chronologically so students understand how they fit into one big story.

Intermediate / Junior High

Throughout the intermediate/junior high years, we remain committed to our goal of allowing families the freedom and flexibility to design a homeschool program that is best suited to their individual needs.  Simultaneously, we strive to allow students the opportunity to take ownership and responsibility for their learning through very limited amounts of homework and increased optional extension activities.  We believe this model best sets up students to be successful in whatever path they choose for high school.

  • Our program is designed to teach spelling, grammar, literary analysis, and creative and essay writing through a literature-rich curriculum, copywork, and engaging writing projects. It is intentionally designed to support development for students at all levels. Beginning in 5th grade, we assign a small amount of reading to be done at home (15 - 20 minutes a day), which allows us to maximize the use of our time in class.  Families are encouraged to continue their own curriculum on non-tutorial days.

  • Our program is designed to build a solid mathematical understanding through games, hands-on activities, and interactive lessons. Throughout middle school, parents have the option to follow along at home using the same curriculum that is taught in the classroom or to select their own curriculum for use on non-tutorial days.

  • Our comprehensive program covers both the lecture and lab requirements through interactive discussions and hands-on experiments each week. Students have the option of completing extension activities in their science journals at home for further study. For most families, no additional science instruction is needed.

  • Our middle school students will spend one year learning about each of the following topics: names of God, names of Jesus, spiritual practices and disciplines.
